Voluntary Physical Traceability (VPT)
Physical Traceability has always been a requirement for Fairtrade products. However, for four product categories (cocoa, cane sugar, fruit juices, and tea), the Standards allow for an exception from the Physical Traceability requirements as soon as Fairtrade products are processed, i.e. they allow for Mass Balance.
Customers trading one of the four products above can opt for Voluntary Physical Traceability throughout their entire supply chain. FLOCERT will check compliance on this during the audit.
